OBJ Morris - 2004 Scrapbook

Late Arrivals at the Morris Dancers Ball
Mainly 2004

These pictures turned up in July 2006 from Pam H - a couple were marked 2004.  I can identify most of the people and some of the places - a mere 22 years later.

This was probably either St George's Day in 2004 or the Wassail in 2005 - most likely the latter, judging by the trees.

Susie, Mike G and Abi are facing us, and ??, Dave K, Colin and Chris are facing away.  Jill, Anne O and Ian O are visible amongst the musicians

This must be Easthampstead Community Centre

Colin is showing someone what to do, and Mike G is on the right

Not sure about this location - I don't recall the furniture or the windows

Colin looks on while someone checks a dance notation

Another mystery location - maybe the same as above.

Dave K standing, with Anne O, Jill and Mike S in the foreground

Same location

Anne O, Jill, Ian O, Mike S and Adrian

Same occasion again - it has a map on the wall

Anne O, Jill, Ian O, Mike S with Mike S, Rob W, and Dave K in the background

A different location - could it be The Stag & Hounds at Binfield?

The other side may be Taeppa's Tump.

Mike S in the foreground

The New Leathern Bottle at Jeallotts Hill

Lyn is facing us on the right and Jim M is sticking with her

I don't recognise the other two

Yet another mystery - maybe Wallingford Bunkfest or the short-lived Caversham Folk Festival

Maybe Tiff with the lagerphone

Definitely St Albans at The Fighting Cocks - a contender for Britains oldest surviving pub.

We were there for a day-of-dance with Wicket Brood

Nikki and Liz are sticking, and Doug and Colin are partly hidden.  The other musicians are Mike S, another Ian (not Ian O) playing the tuba, and Dave K playing the guitar.

The Fighting Cocks again.

I remember teaching a dance to Wicket Brood in this spot, after we had learned Worcestershire Monkey from them.

Fighting Cocks

We were heading for the river Ver during one dance.  This is Mike S, Colin, ???? and Liz

Swanage - near the Mowlem Building, with the Amusement Arcade in the background.  We're waiting to dance after Sarum Morris

From the left: Mike S, Nikki, ????, Tiff and maybe Chris

Swanage, at the Heritage Centre - aka The Fish & Chips spot

Colin

Same location

Liz, Colin and Lyn are recognisable
