I thought I knew my way to Silchester, but on this occasion I trusted my
satnav. It took me along Berkshire and Hampshire roads not travelled
since roman times! I didn't trust it to take me home, so I headed
for the M4 and this time the Highways Agency stepped in as the villains of
the piece and sent me home via Maidenhead due to a slip road closure.
Just the same we had a great evening at the Calleva Arms. It's a
really nice setting with a very convenient section of unused road right
outside the pub, and a nice grassy area with picnic tables for a very
appreciate audience, which included my friends Andy and Wendy.
it was in the middle of a heat wave, so we declared that tropical kit was
the order of the day - which explains the shorts, and lack of hats and
face-paint. The heat didn't deter us, and we had a great evening.
It was Luciano and Tash's last pub night with us, as they are moving to
Devon. We wish them well in their new adventure, and look forward to
seeing them at Swanage.
