OBJ Morris - 2001 Scrapbook
Wokingham Winter Carnival
2nd December 2001
The Wokingham Winter Carnival took on the flavour of a "Victorian Fayre"
this year, with reduced noisy fairground rides, and no procession. The
latter caused many a morris dancer to weep a tear of joy!
14 sides attended this year, and rather than share the payment from the
council, the concensus was that it should become a charitable donation to
MacMillan Cancer Relief. The sides were Aldbrickham Clog, Alton Morris,
Berkshire Bedlam, Fleet Morris, Hart & Sole, Hurst Morris People
(HuMP), Insword Rapper, Kennet Morris Men, Kintbury May Maids, OBJ Morris,
Pheonix Morris, Shinfield Shambles, Wicket Brood, Yateley Morris Men
The OBJ side comprised Carey, Jerry, Chris, Colin, DaveD, DaveK, Diane,
Gill, Jill, Pam, Louise, Nikki, Ruth, Adrian, Tony and Roger, with Doug
and Rob assisting with the music.
The highlight of our day was the last dance - Worcestershire Monkey in two
mixed sets with Wicket Brood, accompanied by the combined bands.

One of our hats is missing!
Just before setting out, Chris found her hat wasn't in the
cupboard.
It looks a lot like this, and it's last performance was at the
Taeppa's Tump Ale a few weeks beforehand.
