2014 Scrapbook

New Years day - Soberton
1st January 2014

A bunch of us voyaged down to far-away Soberton for our customary date with Wickham Morris to see in the new year.

We had to negotiate swollen rivers, puddles, mud, fallen trees and just about every other possible hazard caused by the rain - which started around November and didn't let up all day.  We enjoyed ourselves dancing in the marquee, then singing and playing in the bar. A jolly time was had by all.

We adopted outdoor practice rules so blacking-up was optional

OBJ comprised:
Andy, Ali, Ann, Chris, Chris D, Clare, Claudia, Colin, Eddie, Jane, Joe, Karen, Lawre, Marian, Philip, Sarah and Tony

With the audience squeezed into one end of the marquee and in the doorway from the pub, OBJ get ready for a splashy Witchmens Thistle

Andy, Tony and Ann on the left, and Chris, Philip and Karen on the right, and Clare and Eddie are not quite in the picture

Lawre, Chris D, Joe, Colin and Ali are in the band with some helpers from Wickham

Not sure which dance, but this is Andy tickling the roof with his feathers
Looks like more Witchmens Thistle - this time Clare and Eddie are visible

Wickham dancing something

I really should take notes!

The visible dancers are Tony (left) and Chris, Eddie and Clare on the right.

I think Clare must have been feeling the groove

Not sure what's going on here, but it looks like another Hay-on-Wye. I don't remember doing it twice!

Sarah and Ann are nearest
Dancing finished with an East Acton

Here are Karen, Ian (Wickham) and Clare

Then it was off to the bar for various traditional songs including Rob's excellent Wheely-bin Fire song
